Teaser Trailer Analysis

In 47 seconds, there’s a lot to unpack in the teaser trailer for the movie, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (FNAF 2). We are shown returning characters:

  • Mike Schmidt played by Josh Hutcherson
  • Abby Schmidt played by Piper Rubio
  • Vanessa Shelly played by Elizabeth Lail
  • Steve Raglan/William Afton played by Matthew Lillard

As well as new cast members appear in the teaser trailer:

  • Wayne Knight (Appears as a teacher or school staff)
  • Mckenna Grace (Possibly a paranormal investigator)
  • Teo Briones (Possibly a paranormal investigator)

Along with the cast members, we are introduced to multiple FNAF 2 animatronics:

  • Toy Freddy
  • Toy Chica
  • Toy Bonnie
  • Mangle
  • Balloon Boy

I highly recommend watching the teaser trailer beforehand, there’s so much content to digest! This teaser trailer gets me super hyped up for the upcoming exclusive theatrical release of the FNAF 2 movie on December 5, 2025.

Unlike the first film, that premiered in theaters and streamed on Peacock simultaneously, the FNAF 2 movie will first premiere only in theaters and then later on streaming.

Now, allow me to help breakdown and analysis everything you need to know from this teaser trailer for the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie!

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Place Poster

In the first opening frames we are shown a “Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Place” poster that features Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, Mr. Cupcake, and Foxy the Pirate. The poster features the description: “GET READY TO ROCK!”

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Place Poster Credit: Blumhouse

The poster appears withered and the glass encasing it is broken, with sharp shards remaining. This poster features the original animatronics (Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Mr. Cupcake, and Foxy) and it’s from the previous FNAF location in the first FNAF film.

Mangle Endoskeleton

Moving on in the teaser trailer, the next frames we see are of an endoskeleton with a yellow eye visible. This is Mangle’s endoskeleton, due to the yellow iris of the eye. Mangle is the only FNAF 2 animatronic with yellow eyes.

Mangle Endoskeleton Credit: Blumhouse

Here are the eye colors of the FNAF 2 animatronics:

  • Toy Freddy – Blue Eyes
  • Toy Bonnie – Green Eyes
  • Toy Chica – Blue Eyes
  • Balloon Boy – Blue Eyes
  • Mangle – Yellow Eyes

Perhaps in the movie, the main characters (Mike, Abby, and Vanessa) somehow take down Mangle. Or this could be a shot of Mangle being infused with parts from the original (withered) animatronics.

FAZFEST

Along with the Puppet’s music box song being played in the background, William Afton’s (Matthew Lillard) voice is heard saying, with the addition of kids voice during the counting section of dialogue:

Welcome back! Are you ready to start the show? Count with me now:

5, 4, 3, 2, 1….

Showtime!

-William Afton, FNAF 2 Teaser Trailer

After the Blumhouse logo, the trailer shows what appears to be a carnival of some sort filled with crowds of people. Most notable is a girl wearing a purple jacket with frays with purple hair/wig, and purple bunny ears on top of her head. She’s cosplaying as Bonnie.

It hasn’t been confirmed but it’s highly likely that this FNAF themed carnival is called FAZFEST due to the flyers that were revealed on the FNAF 1 location movie set from Dawko’s blog talking about a costume contest called Fazfest.

It’s unclear if FAZFEST that’s shown in the teaser trailer is happening in a flashback or present time.

The next frame shows a FNAF wheel that reveals FNAF characters including Freddy Fazbear, Mr. Cupcake, Bonnie, and Foxy the Pirate.

Abby Arriving at the FNAF 2 location

In the next scene, Abby is riding her bike by herself to the FNAF 2 location. The next shot is of a sticky note that reads, “Gone to fix my friends”. This can only be assumed to be written by Abby prior to her leaving on her bike.

Her “friends” are most likely referring to the original (now withered) animatronics that appeared in the first FNAF movie. During the first film Abby befriended the original animatronics and grew very close to them but she had to leave them in the FNAF location at the end of the first movie.

A plot point could be that somehow Abby came into contact with the old animatronics and learned that something bad was happening to them. The old, withered animatronics’ parts were being used for the toy animatronics at the FNAF 2 location. Abby is alerted of this, possibly by the FAZTALKER? Could the Puppet who is possessed by Charolette Emily contacted Abby and told her the old animatronics were in danger? That’s why she feels she needs to go find them and fix them.

If this isn’t the case then perhaps Abby became friends with the FNAF 2 animatronics and they are who she is referring to. Something bad could be happening with the FNAF 2 animatronics that require Abby to fix them.

Either way, this must be her reasoning as to why she went to the FNAF 2 location by herself. Mike discovers the note which leads to him following after her with the help of Vanessa.

Mike and Vanessa’s Conversation

Mike and Vanessa are seen talking to each other with various shots shown in the teaser trailer throughout their brief conversation.

Mike and Vanessa Credit: Blumhouse

Here’s their whole conversation in the FNAF 2 teaser trailer:

Vannesa: They’re out there Mike.

Mike: Where?

Vanessa: Everywhere.

-Mike and Vanessa, FNAF 2 Teaser Trailer

It’s to be implied that Vanessa is referring to the FNAF 2 animatronics. As seen in the teaser trailer, the FNAF 2 animatronics are free roaming all over the city! Chica is seen at a school, Bonnie is seen in someone’s home, Mangle is seen attacking a car and a home, and Freddy is walking amongst a crowd at the FAZFEST.

Toy Bonnie Peeking Through Curtains

In the next frame a Toy Bonnie is seen peeking through curtains with his green glowing eyes with notable red tint.

Showtime Button

Another shot of Mike and Vanessa talking before cutting to a shot of some unknown person pressing a “Showtime” button that turns on a yellow light. It should be noted that this arm appears to be of an older man’s….possibly Henry Emily? He is reported to be casted in the FNAF 2 movie by actor, Skeet Ulrich.

This showtime button could be used to activate the FNAF 2 animatronics on stage, like it was used in the previous FNAF movie. In the first movie, the showtime button was shown displayed on the wall. This time the showtime button is part of a console-like display.

A Teacher Attacked by Chica

A teacher/school staff is seen in the next shot peering into a glass panel of a door at a school.

A teacher (Wayne Knight) stares at Toy Chica. Credit: Blumhouse

The actor who plays the teacher/school staff is Wayne Knight who is most famously known from his role as Newman from Seinfeld.

As Knight is peering into the glass, the next shot reveals what he’s looking at:

Chica, her glowing blue eyes surrounded by a red tint, stares back at him, as she emits a high-pitched noise. Knight screams in horror before he is forcefully grabbed by Chica and pulled violently through the glass panel of the door.

The next shot shows the now empty hallway of the school.

I’ve listened to a couple of theories as to why Chica is at a school. She could be looking for Abby/followed Abby or she could be searching for kids and thus, went to a school, a place that’s normally filled with kids.

We are shown Chica’s orange feet walking.

Mangle Smashing Through Glass

Mangle smashes through glass in a jump scare.

The next shot shows a frightened Vanessa, Abby, and Mike all huddled together staring at something.

Toy Bonnie Brandishing a Weapon

A shot reveals Toy Bonnie holding up and brandishing a weapon of some sort. It’s a skinny metal object with a blunt tip. Some people have speculated that it appears to be a screwdriver or a croquet needle.

The following shot shows a crouched and huddled older couple on the ground in their home, presumably in continuation of the prior shot, embracing Toy Bonnie’s attack.

William Afton – Possible Dream Sequence?

The next shot is of William Afton standing in a hallway with multiple doors on either side opening and shutting rapidly. This shot suggests a possible dream sequence from Vanessa relating to trauma from William Afton.

It should be noted that this shot appears almost identical to the Plushtrap mini game from FNAF 4; the long, out-stretched hallway with a window on the farthest wall and multiple doors on either side of the hallway. The striking similarities these two share in appearance can’t be a coincidence.

Vanessa Pointing a Gun

Vanessa is pointing a gun towards something. Possibly an animatronic or a trauma induced hallucination of her father, William Afton?

Balloon Boy – Animatronic

Balloon Boy appears as an animatronic with his eyes glowing bright blue. This could possibly be Balloon Boy activating his facial recognition software.

Springtrap Grabs a Knife

William Afton is wearing the Spring Bonnie springlock suit, which he later gets spring locked into, becoming Springtrap. In the shot only his hand is seen reaching for a butcher knife.

The events of the first film left him spring locked in the Spring Bonnie suit, bleeding out to die in the backroom (but we all know “He always comes back!”).

The shot from the teaser trailer seems to suggest a flashback scene showing William Afton donning the Spring Bonnie costume and killing the kids that he would later stuff into the animatronic suits.

Or he could be grabbing the knife as Springtrap and this could be playing out in present time. Although this isn’t as likely, considering the poor state he was in at the end of the FNAF movie.

Mangle Killing Someone

Mangle’s arm (or some metal limb) is pictured choking a character up into the air before dragging them up into the ceiling (a vent) and presumably killing them. This character (Teo Briones) appears to be holding some sort of equipment in their hands.

Mangle killing a new character (Teo Briones) Credit: Blumhouse

A theory that has been circulating is that this character and a girl (which will be shown later in the teaser trailer) are a duo of paranormal investigators that were snooping around the FNAF 2 location before getting caught and killed by the animatronics, in this case Mangle.

Mangle Attacks Windshield of Car

A character is driving a car when Mangle pierces through the windshield with one of its body parts in an attempt to attack whoever is in the car.

Abby, Mike, & Vanessa Huddle Together

Abby, Mike, and Vanessa huddle together as they all stare in horror in the same direction. Potentially at an animatronic?

Blonde Hair Girl Screaming

An unknown blonde hair girl (Mckenna Grace) is screaming while staring up in horror (presumably at Mangle). As I stated earlier, this girl possibly teamed up with the other unknown character we see at the FNAF 2 location (the one that was being attacked by Mangle).

Mckenna Grace plays a character in the FNAF 2 movie Credit: Blumhouse

This blonde girl is wearing headphones around her neck which links her to the other character that was carrying around some sort of equipment with a flashlight attached.

I believe in the theory that these two characters are paranormal investigators that were sneaking around the FNAF 2 location until they were caught and presumably killed by Mangle.

Toy Freddy Walking Amongst a Cosplay Crowd

This is the final shot shown in the teaser trailer. Toy Freddy is walking amongst a crowd of people, many of whom are dressed up in FNAF cosplay (Ex: Bonnie and Chica most notably).

Three FNAF 2 Movie Images from Dawko’s Stream

Earlier this year, Dawko held his LA Wildlife Relief Fund Charity Stream. During the stream, Dawko was allowed to release 3 images from the upcoming FNAF 2 movie.

The first image is a floor mural of Toy Freddy. Based off the photo and the confirmation of Dawko’s vlog, this image is the inside entrance of the FNAF 2 location. Due to its vibrant colors and quality appearance, this could mean two things:

This could be part of a flashback scene or be used in the present time.

The second image features a device called the “FAZTALKER”. This is a brand new device that hasn’t been seen in the FNAF universe previously. The device shows a message displaying: “YOU THERE?”

My immediate thought is that one of the animatronics are trying to contact Abby. This could possibly be the Puppet/Charolette Emily trying to reach out to her or vise versa, due to her being teased at the end of credits of the first movie with the puppet’s music box song playing and the message:

“COME FIND ME”

-PUPPET, FNAF Movie

The third and final image reveals Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail), William Afton (Matthew Lillard) and the director of the FNAF movies (Emma Tammi) inside of a house – presumably the Afton house. This feels like a flashback scene being filmed considering we see William Afton healthy looking, and not wearing the Spring Bonnie springlock suit.

FNAF 2 Teased Screenplay Pages

Back on August 8, 2024, Scott Cawthon released four possible screenplay script pages from the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie on his official X account with the exception that only one of them is from the real screenplay of the FNAF 2 movie.

This means that 3 out of 4 aren’t real. He left it to the FNAF fans to figure out which page is real and which ones are the fakes.

Reading through all the screenplay pages, right away we can safely eliminate the second screenplay page (p.18), the one that has two government officials talking to each other.

While it’s true that the toy animatronics used advanced facial recognition software, I believe it’s farfetched that the government would be involved in the Freddy Fazbear Pizzeria and the animatonics.

This leaves three remaining screenplay pages: (p.4), (p.25), and (p.58). Each one of these feels plausible, however; the page number should be noted, whether or not it’s accurate determines the legitimacy of the screenplay page’s contents.

Closing Thoughts…

FNAF fans, me included, are ecstatic to receive the official Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Teaser Trailer! Blumhouse has packed so much into the 47 seconds of the teaser, there’s a lot to analyze and theorize about!

It’s great seeing the animatronics in action, fully painted and movie ready. I still can’t fathom how accurate Jim Henson’s Creature Shop made the FNAF 2 animatronics appear in real life. It’s like they literally pulled the straight out of the game.

I hope you enjoyed reading my breakdown and analysis of the FNAF 2 Teaser Trailer!

The Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie premieres exclusively in theaters only on December 5, 2025.

Thanks as always for reading my blog,
