Giggleland: New Indie Mascot Horror Game Coming Soon on Steam

For fans of Five Nights at Freddy’s, Poppy Playtime, and Indigo Park, be on the lookout for Giggleland, a new indie mascot horror coming soon on Steam. This cute animated game isn’t what it appears on the surface. In fact, watching the teaser trailer for the game showcases that they’re are cracks forming or one could say a virus. This is no laughing matter! What’s going on in Giggleland?

What is Giggleland?

According to Giggleland’s Steam page, “Giggleland is full of adventures and fun! Will you be the next to discover why our guests are always smiling? This game is not suitable for children” (Giggleland Steam page).

Giggleland is an upcoming indie mascot horror game that’s coming soon to Steam. At a first glance, it appears as a lighthearted, animated aesthetic game; however, I wasn’t fooled.

Giggleland takes on the Disney-like facade, portraying itself as a family-friendly place to have fun. In one of the photos on Steam, there’s a giant Ferris wheel, “THE WHEEL”, that is brightly lit up with ornate, red passenger cars. There’s flower gardens and trees bordering maintained stone paths, and a cardboard cutout of Eliot, one of the main mascots, pointing to the Ferris wheel.

In this one image, it captures a magical atmosphere, that almost invites you right into the game. This is the facade of Giggleland, and I know fully well that all is not what it seems.

As a huge fan of mascot horror games – I’ve learned that the cute, seemingly innocent games and characters aren’t exactly what they appear to be. I’ve learned not to be tricked, because there’s often a dark, horror twist to these games.

My suspicions were confirmed when I read the official game description that detailed that Giggleland is not suitable for children, implying that there are dark, horror elements within this game. Immediately, I was intrigued and wanted to learn more about what secrets lay hidden within this game!

Based off the Steam page for Giggleland, they’ve given us a brief summary of the game. In the “ABOUT” section this is what they tell us:

Welcome to Giggleland! Join Tolie on her very special day at the park as she searches for her missing father.

Explore our wonderful attractions, meet our ever-smiling staff, and experience the magic that makes Giggleland the happiest place in the world! Just remember – every guest must follow the rules. The Management is very particular about that.

Right off the bat, it’s clear this game is putting a huge emphasis on the rules of the amusement park. Although, I have a strong suspicionthat the gameplay will be about breaking these “heavily enforced” rules in order to come across dark secrets and uncover the truths hiding in the depths of Giggleland.

In the “FEATURES” section on the Steam page, this is what they reveal:

  • Navigate through themed areas filled with colorful characters and hidden passages, each holding pieces of the truth.
  • Solve intricate puzzles throughout the park – after all, good children follow directions!
  • Uncover a story of family, belonging, and the true cost of endless happiness.

The Park is waiting. Will you join us?

Here are all the images found on Giggleland’s Steam page.

This is all the information I could gather from Giggleland’s Steam page. Thankfully, on January 2, 2025, an official Steam teaser trailer was released that revealed some dark elements to this game!

Watch the Official Steam Teaser Trailer for Giggleland!

Giggleland released an official Steam teaser trailer on their Youtube channel on January 2, 2025. There isn’t a confirmed release date right now, all we know is that it’s coming soon on Steam.

Just like the game itself, looks can be deceiving. The teaser starts off innocent enough, but soon takes a dark turn!

The teaser introduces us to two characters who appear to be the main mascots of the game (minus a mysterious gray bunny, but there was no mention of it besides the photo at the end of the teaser trailer). The names of the two animals we are introduced to are Eliot and Ella.

Mascots of Giggleland

Eliot

Eliot is one of the main mascots of Giggleland. He’s an orange tabby cat with blue eyes. He wears a purple suit with a white shirt underneath and a red bow tie. On top of his head, he wears a purple top hat with a red stripe. There are white diamond sparkles all over his clothes and top hat.

Ella

Ella is one of the main mascots of Giggleland. She’s a tan dog with green eyes. She wears hot pink bows with white polka dots attached to both her ears. She has a light pink dress with a hot pink stripe across her waist and has a light pink collar with a white button and hot pink ribbon. She also has white diamond sparkles all over her dress.

Rules of Giggleland

Eliot seems to be in a leadership role because he goes on to explain the rules of Giggleland. Here they are as follows:

  • Rule #1: Stay out of areas you cannot enter!
  • Rule #2: You must be the appropriate height to ride the rides!
  • Rule #3: If there is a hazard in the park, follow the exit signs…And get out of there!
  • Rule #4: Don’t be afraid, There’s no reason to fear us!
  • Rule #5: If you feel a panic setting in…Remember to take deep breaths!
  • Rule #6: Don’t close your eyes…Or you’ll miss the best part

Everything is going smoothly until Rule #3. From here, the teaser trailer starts to glitch with programming languages flashing across the screen.

Eliot doesn’t seem fazed at all by the glitching, meanwhile Ella is freaking out. This sets off alarms in my head.

Is Eliot causing the glitching to happen? Is this some sort of virus, and could it affect Ella?

It’s evident that a virus is affecting the video, given by many fragment lines of text that can be seen within the glitches:

new installation

any new hardware or software

BIOS memory

for any Windows updates

restart your computer

Warning: Visiting this site may harm your computer”

The website you are visiting appears to contain malware…malicious software that may harm your computer or otherwise operate…affected just by browsing to a site with malware

All of this is suggesting that someone browsed onto a malicious website that allowed a virus to latch on to the programming of Giggleland. It’s unclear who did this, although whether or not Eliot is the reason behind the virus or just a victim of it doesn’t change the fact that he’s going to be an antagonist of the game.

C Language and JavaScript

In the GTLive video, Ash picked out “Parfait” from the strong of code glitching across the screen.

According to ieeexplore.ieee.org, “Parfait is a bug checker of C code that has been designed to address developers’ requirements of scalability (support million lines of code in a reasonable amount of time) , precision (report few false positives) and reporting of bugs that may be exploitable from a security vulnerability point of view” (IEEE Xplore).

If this is true, that means that someone is checking to see if the programming system in Giggleland is exploitable. This also means that all the code that is glitching across the screen is C language.

You might be asking yourself: What is C language?

According to simlilearn.com, “C [language] is a high-level, general-purpose programming language. It provides a straightforward, consistent, and powerful interface for programming systems, which is why it is widely used for developing system software, application software, and embedded systems” (Simplillearn).

To put it in simple terms, it’s a programming language often used for large-scale systems and the development of operating systems – perfect for a digital system of an amusement park such as Giggleland. It would help program the park’s rides, security systems, and other digital software that’s been integrated within the park.

Another programming language that possibly was discovered in the teaser trailer was JavaScript.

JavaScript is considered a versatile programming language most often used in web development for the cosmetics and functionality of web apps and web technologies.

Description of Giggleland’s Official Teaser Trailer

In the Youtube teaser trailer’s description is a series of binary code:

When the binary code is translated it reveals the name of an URL of a Discord server:

Secret Video

First you must locate the code “?v=P1qoOWRpD6M” from Giggleland’s Steam page, found right next to the developer’s name “KMW“. Next, you’ll want to go to Giggleland’s official Steam teaser trailer on Youtube and locate the URL at the top of the page. Within the URL, replace everything after following ?v= and paste in the new line of code (?v=P1qoOWRpD6M). It will bring you to a new Youtube video.

Due to the popularity of this video, it’s gained enough views that it might just be recommended to you if you watched the teaser trailer of Giggleland. So much for the hunt for the secret video!

The secret video is titled “EliotElla_ep_03_(2010).avi” and it was uploaded by Youtube user, user-jgrgerah on December 24, 2024.

Same as the teaser trailer, this video starts off innocent enough. Eliot is drawing in a notebook when Ella calls out to him for help pulling weeds in the garden.

He leaves behind his notebook to help her and she teaches him the correct way to pull a weed. Not soon after a trio of bullies teases Eliot for his drawing in his notebook (that they picked up due to Eliot carelessly leaving it behind).

Ella tells Eliot they need to remove the weeds (the bullies) from the garden. He gets up and is about to confront them when he suddenly glitches. The screen glitches from black to shots of the bullies crying, with code glitching across the screen.

The video ends with Eliot looking at his drawing (of him wearing his Giggleland costume) and a mumbled voice speaking to him, with yellow closed captions saying:

The garden looks great, Eliot. Thanks for pulling out all those weeds.

The owner of the voice is referred to as “Mr. T” by Eliot. Little is known about “Mr. T”, but it could be assumed he could be a parental figure or some adult, seeing as how Eliot appears young in this video.

The ending image of the video is of three bullies being buried in the garden.

What we can gather from this video is that Eliot glitches prior to the events of Giggleland, meaning that something suspicious is happening with Eliot’s character. I also find the “Mr. T” character to be suspicious as well.

Ella acts normal, although it’s hard to tell with all the tension in the video and with her disappearing at the end of the video.

Did she witness Eliot harming those bullies?

I wonder if we’ll discover more secret videos like this one leading up to Giggleland’s release. I have so many questions and I can already tell there’s so many hidden secrets underneath the surface of this game waiting to be discovered.

Until the official release of the game, I’ll be keeping a close eye on any new hidden secrets that may be revealed!

Closing Thoughts…

I happened to stumble upon Giggleland while I was browsing the Coming Soon games on Steam. Upon discovering it, I wandered down the rabbit hole of this game and I’m so happy I did.

I can’t wait until Giggleland officially releases! Until then I’ll be eagerly awaiting for more content and lore to be discovered.

Keep an eye on the upcoming indie mascot horror game, Giggleland.

“Where smiles are FOREVER!”

Thanks as always for reading my blog,
