Gi-Hun Returns

Teaser and Trailer Breakdowns
Here’s Squid Game: Season 2’s Official Teaser.
Here’s Squid Game: Season 2’s official Trailer.
Official Teaser
Squid Game released a couple of teasers hinting at what’s to come for season 2. What they revealed was that Gi-Hun was returning as Player 456 once again along with 455 new competitors. It’s shown that Gi-Hun will take on a leader role, guiding the players through the games the best he can with his prior knowledge and experience as seen in the teaser’s Red Light Green Light game that’s briefly shown.

The teaser also reveals that players are able to vote after each game if they want to continue playing the Squid Game or if they’d rather quit and all split the money and go home. This is shown with either pressing a red “X” button or a green “O” button; they’re decision being reflected in a patch they must wear on their green jackets. New games are hinted at and there appears to fighting amongst the players again.
Official Trailer
The official trailer for Squid Game season 2 was released on Nov. 26, 2024. In it, we see Gi-Hun, Player 456, demanding to be put back in the game again. He’s liking speaking to the Front Man, the overseer of Squid Game. Gi-Hun finds access into the games as we see him competing in them.

Gi-hun’s main goal is to put an end to the Squid Game once and for all. That’s his whole purpose of returning back to the games. With determination and a hardened resolve, we’re going to see a different side to him this season.
Just like in the teaser, we see Gi-hun take on a guidance role in the games such as Red Light Green Light. Gi-hun yells at all the players to “Freeze”; however, Player 230, Thanos, forcefully pushes players causing them to get shot on sight. This reveals that Player 230, Thanos, is going to take on an antagonist role in season 2, bringing harm to other players for his own gain.

Hwang Jun-ho, an undercover detective who infiltrated Squid Game last season and was revealed to be the Front Man’s brother, also returns back in season 2 with vengeance. I’m relieved to know he survived being shot and falling into the water in the ending of season 1. It’ll be exciting to see what transpires in season 2 with his survival.
