FNAF 6’s 7 Year Anniversary: REVISIT HIDDEN LORE

December 4th marked the 7 year anniversary of the release of Five Night’s at Freddy’s: Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator. Back on December 4th, 2017, Scott Cawthon, creator of Five Nights at Freddy’s, released the 6th game in the franchise for free. Initially thought of as a troll, 8-bit tycoon pizzeria game, FNAF 6 Pizzeria Simulator ended up being the most lore-heavy game for the entire franchise.

History of the Game

Five Night’s at Freddy’s fans were hyped after the release of Sister Location, and were excitedly anticipating what Scott Cawthon would release next. To their disappoint, an article released in mid 2017 stating that Cawthon had ceased working on FNAF 6, cancelling the project all together.

Later, Cawthon would announce that instead he would be making a smaller tycoon game. Cawthon would release three teasers for the tycoon game: Freddy with a cake, Freddy close to three children, and Freddy juggling pizzas.

The game would be released on December 4rd, 2017 and to the shock of the fans it was soon revealed that Cawthon had trolled everyone.

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator wasn’t a small tycoon game, in truth, it was the canon 6th game in the franchise and the final game in the scottgaming era of FNAF.

Gameplay

You are greeted with the main menu that displays two options to choose from:

  • Design a Pizza
  • Go to Pizzeria
DESIGN YOUR PIZZA! – PC: FNAF Steam page

If you decide to select the “Design a Pizza” option, it brings you to a screen that allows you to customize a pizza with 6 options for toppings:

Pepperoni, Onions, Olives, Sausage, Mushroom, and Peppers.

Once you’re satisfied with your pizza you hit “ENTER” to finish. This will bring you back to the main menu screen. You can either choose to design another pizza or you can proceed with the game and select, “Go to Pizzeria”.

FREDDY FAZBEAR DELIVERING PIZZAS – PC: FNAF Steam page

Selecting the “Go to Pizzeria” option brings you to an 8-bit style minigame where you control a Freddy Fazbear and must deliver pizzas to hungry kids on the other side of the screen. There are 4 rounds, with more kids added each round and a Shadow Freddy that appears and deters you from delivering pizzas to the kids.

During round 4 of the game, Shadow Freddy glitches causing the entire game to crash to black. The next screen reveals a damaged Circus Baby sitting slumped across from you (the player).

A cassette man voice directs you to complete a series of audio tests on the damaged Circus Baby and document the results. During the testing, Circus Baby interrupts saying “3.2.1.” before the screen cuts to black once again.

SCRAP BABY FNAF 6 – PC: freddy-fazbears-pizzeria-simulator.fandom.com

The intro of the game starts playing with a cut-scene explaining the player character is now the face of the newly rebranded Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

The first objective of the actual game is to buy items off the catalog that reflect atmosphere, safety, entertainment, and bonus revenue in order to full up your pizzeria. It’s best advised to avoid buying items with a liability risk in order to avoid lawsuits.

Items at the start of the game include:

Balloon Barrel, Discount Ball Pit, Paper Cups and Plates, Colorful Cups and Plates, and Single Stage.

*Note the Discount Ball Pit comes with a liability risk of 1. This can cause potential lawsuits.

After the purchases are made, you get to place all items in the pizzeria with the blueprint mode of the game. This is also where you can accept a sponsorship. This will give you more money, but during the night shift of the game, loud ads will pop up.

FNAF 6’s office PC: freddy-fazbears-pizzeria-simulator.fandom.com

The nightshift portion of the game takes place in a dark office in front of an old computer monitor with two dark vents on either side of you.

The main objective of the nightshift is to complete all the tasks listed on the computer. In-between each night, you will be presented an animatronic and given the option to salvage it or to throw it back outside.

If you opted to salvage an animatronic, you must complete a maintenance checklist. If successful, you will be granted a revenue boost for shopping the pizzeria catalog. If you fail the tests, the animatronic will jumpscare you resulting in zero revenue bonus and a screen saying “You lost the salvage.”

During the testing phase, you are able to use a taser up to 3 times on the animatronic. Every time after, will decrease the monetary value on the salvaged animatronic.

Molten Freddy – PC: freddy-fazbears-pizzeria-simulator.fandom.com

Whether you are successful or not in the salvage process, the animatronic will be set loose within the vents of the pizzeria and now you must deter the animatronics from you inside the office during the nightshift portion of the game.

There are 7 different endings to the game:

Completion , Bad, Mediocre, Blacklisted, Bankruptcy, Insanity, and Lorekeeper.

PC: freddy-fazbears-pizzeria-simulator.fandom.com

The Completion ending is theorized to be the canon ending. To achieve this ending, you must salvage all of the animatronics in the back alley (Scrap Baby, Scraptrap, Molten Freddy, and Lefty) without going bankrupt. On the final night, after all the tasks are complete and you logoff, you will hear Scrap Baby speak.

You played right into our hands. Did you really think that this job just fell out of the sky for you? No, this was a gift. For us. You gathered them all together, in one place. Just like he asked you to. All of those little souls in one place. Just for us, a gift. Now, we can do what we were created to do. And be complete. I will make you proud, Daddy. Watch, listen, and be full.

-Scrap Baby/Elizabeth Afton

A beep will sound. Cassette Man’s voice emerges and gives an ending speech. Cassette Man is revealed to be Henry Emily, the cofounder of Fazbear Entertainment, Inc. and the father of Charlotte Emily.

Connection terminated. I’m sorry to interrupt you, Elizabeth. If you still even remember that name. But I’m afraid you’ve been misinformed. You are not here to receive a gift. Nor, have you been called here by the individual you assume. Although, you have indeed been called.
You have all been called here. Into a labyrinth of sounds and smells, misdirection and misfortune. A labyrinth with no exit, a maze with no prize. You don’t even realize that you are trapped. Your lust of blood has driven you in endless circles. Chasing the cries of children in some unseen chamber. Always seeming so near, yet somehow out of reach. But, you will never find them, none of you will. This is where your story ends.
And to you, my brave volunteer. Who somehow found this job listing not intended for you. Although, there was a way out planned for you, I have a feeling that’s not what you want. I have a feeling that you are right where you want to be.
I am remaining as well. I am nearby. This place will not be remembered. And the memory of everything that started this can finally begin to fade away as the agony of every tragedy should. And to you, monsters trapped in the corridors. Be still, and give up your spirits. They don’t belong to you. For most of you I believe there is peace and perhaps more waiting for you after the smoke clears. Although, for one of you the darkest pit of Hell has opened to swallow you whole. So, don’t keep the Devil waiting, old friend.
My daughter, if you can hear me. I knew you would return as well. It’s in your nature to protect the innocent. I’m sorry that on that day. The day you were shut out and left to die, no one was there to lift you up in their arms the way you lifted others into yours. And then, what became of you? I should have known, you wouldn’t be content to disappear. Not my daughter. I couldn’t save you then, so let me save you now. It’s time to rest, for you, and for those you have carried in your arms.
This ends. For all of us. End communication.

– Cassette Man/Henry Emily

During Cassette Man’s (Henry’s) ending monologue, a temperature gauge will continuously rise to 179°F as images of the scrapped animatronics burn in the pizzeria.

Afterwards a cutscene plays, apologizing to you, the player, indicating you were brought here under false pretenses. The screen cuts to the main menu where a “Certificate of Completion” is displayed on screen.

SIX GRAVESTONES – PC: freddy-fazbears-pizzeria-simulator.fandom.com

By playing Security Puppet, Midnight Motorist, Fruity Maze, and fulfilling all of the requirements for the Completion ending, you will be granted the Lorekeeper ending. After the credits have rolled after the Completion ending, an image of a graveyard with 6 gravestones are show. Four out of the six gravestones have visible names.

Starting from left to right the four names are as follows:

Gabriel, Fritz, Susie, and Jeremy.

It’s theorized that these are the names of the dead children spirits who haunt the animatronics in FNAF. Gabriel, Fritz, Susie, Jeremy and the obscured 5th gravestone (highly theorized to be Cassidy) are the names of the MCI, Missing Children Incident, the children that were murdered by William Afton and then stuffed into Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Golden Freddy. The sixth gravestone up on the hill is thought to be Charlotte Emily’s gravestone and she possesses the Puppet.

FNAF 3’s Bad Ending PC: freddy-fazbears-pizza.fandom.com

When comparing the order of the gravestones to the FNAF 3’s ending animatronic heads, people theorize the names link to the corresponding animatronic:

Gabriel – Freddy

Fritz – Foxy

Susie – Chica

Jeremy – Bonnie

(That leaves the 5th gravestone, Cassidy, to be linked to Golden Freddy.)

Lore/Theories

Security Puppet and Charlotte Emily

LORE

The Security Puppet is an item you can purchase from the Catalog, a shop where you can buy items for your pizzeria. It costs $12,500. It’s in very good condition and its stats are 9 for Health and Safety and 7 for Entertainment.

Security Puppet PC: freddy-fazbears-pizzeria-simulator.fandom.com

After you purchased and placed the item in your pizzeria, you have the option to play it as a minigame. The objective of the minigame is to not let your assigned child reach the exit of the pizzeria. Your color code is: GREEN. You have to press SPACE to stop your assigned child with the green wristband. You are controlling the security puppet in the minigame, that is lurking inside of a giftbox and can emerge and walk around the room.

In order to unlock the secret lore from the minigame, you must play it 3 times. On the fourth playthrough, the security puppet will be trapped inside of the giftbox due to a second giftbox being placed on top of it. Children will crowd around the exit door and a little girl, Charlotte Emily, will appear outside the window of the pizzeria in the pouring rain. It’s revealed she’s wearing a green wristband and she’s the assigned child.

The Security Puppet finally emerges but it’s too late, Charlotte fades into the night. The Puppet goes after her, outside of the pizzeria in the pouring rain, looking for her despite the rain causing damage to it’s body.

The puppet finds the Charlotte, but she’s lying dead on the ground. The puppet drags its body over Charlotte’s and fades away. This is the backstory of how Charlotte came to possess the Puppet in FNAF.

THEORY

A theory suggests that William Afton, the villain of the franchise, killed Charlotte. This is supported from FNAF 2’s “Take Cake to the Children” death minigame, in which a crying child, Charlotte Emily, is outside of the Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza building. A purple car drives up to her and a purple man, William Afton, steps out and kills Charlotte with a Puppet jumpscare ending the minigame.

Midnight Motorist

LORE

Midnight Motorist arcade is an item you can purchase through the Catalog. It costs $170 and it’s stats are 4 for Entertainment and 1 for Bonus Revenue. After you purchase and place it within the pizzeria you can click to play it.

Midnight Motorist arcade game. PC: freddy-fazbears-pizza.fandom.com

You, the player, are in control of a car and must race along a highway while avoiding oncoming traffic in order to reach the finish line. The speed of the car will increase faster the longer you avoid hitting a car. If you hit a car, it will cause you to lose speed.

Midnight Motorist minigame PC:freddy-fazbears-pizza.fandom.com

In order to unlock the secret lore of the minigame, during the Midnight Motorist minigame you have to drive through a gap in the bottom border of the screen along the highway. The music changes and you’re now driving the car through a winding road in a rainy forest at night. The road splits into a fork giving you the option to go either take a turn or continue straight. If you decide to take a turn, you will arrive to a building named “JR’s” with a parking lot of cars. Your character’s yellow sprite, Yellow Man, will get out of the purple car and walk up to a green man outside of “JR’s”. The green man will block the yellow man from entering.

Come on, you know you can’t be here.
Don’t make this more difficult than it has to be.”

-Green Man, Midnight Motorist

The yellow man then goes back to the car and can either continue south along the winding road or go back north and take a turn.

If you decide to go back north and take a turn, the yellow man can get out of the car and walk around a cleared area of the forest where there is a mound of dirt that is theorized to be a burial grave.

Traveling south, you will arrive at the yellow man’s house. Inside, there sits a gray person in front of a tv. Interacting with them will give you this diagloue:

Leave him alone tonight. He had a rough day.

-Gray sprite, Midnight Motorist

The yellow man will try entering a bedroom but the door will be locked. He says:

I told you not to close your door.

-Yellow Man

If you continuously try opening the door the yellow man will say this:

This is my house. He can’t ignore me like that.
OPEN THE DOOR!
I’ll find a way in from outside…

-Yellow Man

Controlling the yellow man, you will leave the house and go around to the bedroom and find a shattered window with footprints on the ground. The yellow man says before the minigame ends:

Ran off to that place again. He will be sorry when he gets back.

-Yellow Man

THEORY

There are many theories regarding Midnight Motorist.

A working theory is that William Afton is the mysterious Yellow Man we play as who drives the purple car in the minigame. It’s thought that William is driving home after murdering Charlotte Emily. This is supported with the label “later that night” in the game files of the Midnight Motorist- this refers to earlier in the night when Charlotte was killed and now the Midnight Motorist minigame is playing out the events of “later that night” where we see him speeding along the highway in a furious mood as he travels back home.

A theory regarding who the gray sprite is that it could be Michael Afton. This is supported because in FNAF: Sister Location, Michael would watch tv in-between shifts implying he like watching tv, also because the gray sprite speaks in gray text the same as Michael’s dialogue in FNAF 4.

The runaway child is thought to be the Crying Child, theorized David/Dave but that’s a theory for another time, who is the youngest son of William Afton.

It’s unclear what exactly the mound of dirt could be. Some speculate it could be a Twisted Ones animatronic, others say its actually the Crying Child’s dead body, or it could be Golden Freddy’s suit.

These are all just theories. Midnight Motorist remains unsolved.

Fruity Maze

LORE

Fruity Maze arcade is an item you can buy in the Catalog. It costs: $150 and its stats are 3 for Entertainment and 1 for Bonus Revenue. After purchasing and placing the arcade in your pizzeria, you have the option to play it.

Upon playing, you control a little girl and collect all the fruits (oranges, grapes, and cherries), within a time limit. The more fruit you collect, the more time is added. There are a few powerups you can additionally collect:

  • Magnet: Attracts nearby fruit and power ups to you
  • Lightning: Makes you run faster
  • Cape: Allows you to pass through the game’s borders
FRUITY MAZE arcade PC:freddy-fazbears-pizza.fandom.com

While playing, the screen will flash every time it says “Time Extended” revealing a young girl with blonde curls and blue eyes, Susie, in the reflection of the screen.

In order to unlock the secret lore of the minigame you must successfully collect all of the fruit.

The second time you play the minigame, in place of oranges there will be dead golden dogs you must collect. With each “Time Extended” screen flash, you’ll see a frowning Susie reflected in the screen.

Susie playing Fruity Maze with Spring Bonnie behind her. PC:freddy-fazbears-pizza.fandom.com

The third time you play, there are no longer fruit to collect. The little girl sprite leaves bloodied footprints as she moves collecting now mutilated golden dead dogs, coffins, and flowers. There are yellow spring bonnie sprites in the maze watching her collect the items. Each time the screen flashes for the “Time Extended”, Susie is extremely upset and Spring Bonnie is standing right behind her.

The timer will run out displaying the text: TIME IS UP.

The screen will continuously flash white on the reflected faces of Susie and Spring Bonnie as he talks to her.

He’s not really dead.
He is over here.
Follow me.

-Spring Bonnie to Susie

The minigame will end and it’ll be no longer playable.

THEORY

It was first theorized that Susie was one of the victims in the MCI, the Missing Children Incident, who would possess Chica. It was later confirmed in the story “Coming Home” in Fazbear Frights 4 in which it revealed that Susie, the protagonist of the story, was lured away and murdered at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza by a serial killer. In the story, Chica comes to take Susie away each night.

This confirms that Susie is the possessed child spirit of Chica.

Closing Thoughts…

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator caught everyone by surprise! Scott trolled everyone and left us when an amazing game to end the Scottgaming era of FNAF. To this day, FNAF 6 still leaves us with many unsolved mysteries to theorize endlessly on.

Thank you Scott Cawthon for making such a wonderful game free to play.

FNAF 6 truly is a game made for the fans!
